the artist

I paint because some things will not come through in words. I have tried, and they do not hold. They slip or come out cleaner than they really are. Painting lets them stay as they are, uneven and carrying their own weight.

Most of the time I do not know what I am making at the start. I only recognize it once it is already there. It feels less like explaining and more like noticing.

I make these because I need to. That is the honest part of it. If someone else finds something in them that stays a while, I am glad for that. I hope people enjoy them.

I enjoy making them.
